Turning that frown upside down

Happiness is something all humans strive for. For many, achieving true joy is their greatest goal in life.

One teacher’s search for joy is admired by many in the Wahlert community; Mr. Peter Scott seems to always have a smile on his face.

So how does he stay positive? Scott said, “…watching the sun rise over the Mississippi River as I drive to work, petting my dog, Spotify shuffle just happening to pull up the right song I need for that moment, a big bowl of ice cream; the list goes on. Aside from little moments like that, recently marrying my best friend has brought me tons of joy,” said Scott. Scott’s mission in life is to be truly happy. To achieve this, he aims to find happiness in life’s little moments.

Another person recognized for frequently spreading joy in the Wahlert community is Lydia Foy, ‘23,. Like Scott, she aims to find happiness in the little things.

“My sisters make me the happiest and are my biggest inspiration. I love to overbook myself, but that keeps me positive,” said Foy. “Finding joy and appreciation in the things I do brings me happiness. Realizing how blessed I truly am has helped me to become a better version of myself.”

Positivity isn’t just witnessed in classrooms; students appreciate joy in the cafeteria as well. Mrs. Donna Arthofer, a member of the lunch staff,  is also recognized by the Wahlert community for her energetic and positive attitude.

Arthofer simply stated, “My son Kody makes me happy; my family makes me happy. Everyone I have any sort of contact with makes me happy. It makes me happy making others happy.”

It is seemingly the little things that make Wahlert members want to get up early in the morning to hear that first ding of the 7:40 bell. Said Scott on simple joys, “Sometimes, just surviving is enough.”
