Last Sunday’s Rock the Rafters was one of the most successful ever. An annual fundraiser and showcase for the Dance Team, Rock the Rafters has been an annual tradition for ten plus years.

Rock the Rafters is also a camp for girls and boys ages 4-12, and this year’s camp attracted a record-breaking 127 campers.  The campers learned two fun dances to perform at the beginning of the showcase.

The dance team itself performed two of their state routines, a routine they had prepared for the Senior basketball game, and a co-ed dance. This was the very first time the team had a co-ed dance at Rock the Rafters.

The co-ed dance featured a boy with every girl on the dance team, and the dance incorporated many different styles to a variety of songs.

Movements in the dance were hard for some boys, but Sophia Huntington, ‘19, was confident in her partner, Trenton Dodds, ‘19.

“I think he did a really great job, but there is definitely some room for improvement!  Although, his toe touch was questionable, ”  said Huntington.

Trenton was excited for the crowd. “Personally, I enjoyed performing in front of a crowd and liked the experience,” he said.

Rock the Rafters proved a very successful event for the Wahlert Dance team. The event attracted a large crowd and raised over $4,000 for future dance team needs.
