Trotting for turkeys on Turkey Day

42nd annual Turkey Trot raises money for cross country and track programs

Looking for something to do this Thanksgiving that is for a great cause? Then get yourself to the 42nd annual Turkey Trot at your very own Wahlert Catholic High School. Bring your family and friends of the ages 6 and up.

Participants can still register for only $10 in the Wahlert gym from 7 to 8 and at Courtside from 7 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 26th. If you can’t make it on those dates, you can always bring your $10 to the Wahlert gym the day of the race from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Both the 2.5-mile and the 5.0-mile races start at 9 a.m.

Maria Wright, ’16, has been running the race with her family for four years now! “I run the race because it is a family tradition. I run it with my mom, and we have a lot of fun every year,” Wright explained. “My favorite part of running the race is seeing everyone come together to run a race that is for a good cause. I love when I’m done running also, because I’m always looking forward to a big Thanksgiving dinner with my family,” Wright says.

Even though it may be a long and exhausting race, the Turkey Trot is a great time to get together with the family and friends. “It’s a great way to start the holidays and get together with the people I love being with! It’s also a unique event that makes me excited for a great holiday season!” Wright said.
