Puppy Day!

Probably the most adorable nationally celebrated day is March 23. It’s National Puppy Day! A whole day devoted to loving man’s best friends. Every person has a unique relationship with their dog.

Some dogs are entertaining for their owners. “My dog shakes my hand and gives me high fives,” says Anastasia Smith, ‘21. “She ran after the mailman once. It was funny.”

Each dog has its own unique personality. “During the winter, my dog always goes out and plays in the snow. It’s so cute,” says Emilia Harris, ‘21.

National Puppy Day isn’t only about loving dogs, however. According to the National Puppy Day website, this day is about helping to educate people about orphaned and abandoned puppies and the terrible things that happen in puppy mills.

Puppy mills breed dogs to sell, under cruel and harsh conditions. Colleen Paige wanted to do something to help, so she founded National Puppy Day in 2006, and it has been a celebrated day since then.
