Pro-tips for Teton science students

As winter quickly approaches, some students are preparing to travel to the Teton Science School in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The students will be leaving Nov. 17 to spend a week in Teton National Park. The students might have to  endure many different temperatures or climates when they visit the mountains, so past travelers gave some advice about what to pack and what not to pack. 

  1. “I am so happy I brought my camera last year. The view was amazing, and the pictures turned out great.” — Gavin Hamilton, ‘20. 
  2. “One thing I wished I packed was dry shampoo.” — Clare Boderick, ‘20. 
  3. “I packed medicine such as Tylenol for the plane and traveling, and it helped a lot.” — Ellie Timmerman, ‘20.
  4. “Pro tip: Don’t pack any food or snacks because they will make you throw it away when you get there. Otherwise, you will get mice.” — Gabe Anstoetter, ‘21.
  5. “Pack heavy duty snow pants and make sure they are waterproof.” — Bryce Anstoetter, ‘20.
  6. “I wish I had packed more hats because mine always got wet from the snow, or I lost them.” — Abigail Klauer, ‘21.
  7. “Wool socks were the best because they keep your feet warmer and dryer than cotton socks.” — Abby Wagner, ‘20.
  8. “Packing sunglasses was key to my trip. The snow makes it bright outside.” — Anna Kalb, ‘21.
  9. “I wish I had packed more blankets. I had a lot of extra space in my suitcase I wished I had used.” — Kieren Skace, ‘21,
  10. “I’m thankful that I brought hand warmers. I used them all of the time when I was hiking.” — Julia Norton, ‘20.
  11.  “Make sure to bring a lot of layers that you can easily take off. When you are hiking, sometimes it can be warm.” — Ashley Steele, ‘20.
