Have you ever wondered what Wahlert was like when it first opened in 1959? Many things that existed back then remain a tradition at Wahlert in 2016. When Wahlert first opened, however, it was very different than the Wahlert we know and love today.

In addition to a lot of changing trends throughout the decades, Wahlert has established some constants. One of the most inspiring constants is the community. From the day our school first opened, Wahlert has built a community rich in morals and memories.

“I love the energy that the students exhibit in Wahlert’s community. For example, at games when we meet in larger groups, and when we are able to come together to show how good of people we all are,” said Mr. Jim Kuhl, who has been a part of the Wahlert community for 38 years.

Whether it’s a basketball game, a musical or a pep rally, there is always an endless turnout of past, present and future Eagles that dedicate their lives to Wahlert and its mission. To read more about Wahlert’s timeless traditions, check out the print issue of The Gleaner coming out late January!
