ular have high hopes for the rest of their season.

This season has been more than special; having Julie [Westercamp] back has been phenomenal. We’re looking to do something pretty big by the time things are said and done,” says Riley Collins, ‘18.

The men’s tennis team currently holds an impressive record of 9-1. “My motivation is knowing my spot could be taken at any time. There are many guys who are just as capable to be in the position I’m in,” explains Collins. “Also, I want to bring the Wahlert community another championship to add to the legacy of this school.”

There are 15 seniors on the men’s tennis team, creating an incredible atmosphere through leadership. Collins being one of those primary role models explains, “It’s a humbling experience for sure. I’m thankful for that role, but there are several other people that could be titled that as well.”

The women’s tennis team also has high hopes for this 2018 season. Anna Herrig, ‘18, st

ates that the team’s end goal is to make it to state as both as a team and individually — a  goal that is very achievable based on their current record of 8-2.

It’s been a crazy season so far because the weather has postponed a lot of our meets. It’s been busy, but very exciting,” comments Herrig.

Regardless of the unpredictable Iowa weather, the women’s tennis team is still as dedicated as ever. “Each game matters towards the team score, so I always try to do my best to ensure we are put in the best spot possible,” says Herrig of her personal ambition.

An additional motivation for Herrig is that this is her final season competing in Wahlert athletics. “I have been blessed with incredible teammates throughout the years, and this team is just as special.”
