Eagles sink Kennedy

Pemsl scores 27, while Timp chips in 22

The boys’ basketball team pulled away from Class 4A No. 9 Cedar Rapids Kennedy in the second half to win 84-68.

Nolan Timp kept the Eagles in the game the first half, scoring 15 of his 22 points. Cordell Pemsl turned it on in the fourth quarter, scoring a game high 27, as the Eagles consistently broke the Cougars’ press.

But this was a team effort all the way. Riley Till chipped in 13 points and a mess of rebounds while David Wedewer hit his stride with threes and drives to also score 13.

Coming off the bench, Cam Adams, Josh Schmitt and Austin Kluck effectively spelled the starters to help give the Golden Eagles a team win.

The road doesn’t get any easier as Wahlert plays Class 4A No. 1-ranked Iowa City West next Tuesday and Dubuque Senior next Friday.
