Bowlers spare state qualifiers

Maggie Bowling
Maggie Banwarth, ’14, qualified for state again this year after competing in her first state competition last year.

After losing many key bowlers from last year to graduation, this year’s team pulled through and still managed to qualify a few individuals for the state tournament. Both Maggie Banwarth, ‘14, and Riley Smith, ‘14, competed at the state individual tournament on Feb. 24th.

Riley Bowling
In his final bowling meet, Riley Smith, ’14, scored a 416 to land him a 23rd place finish at state.

Riley was no newcomer to the state competition. This year marked his second time to qualify for the bowling state meet. Last year, Smith bowled in the team competition and helped to bring home a first place finish. This year, he qualified as an individual. At state, he bowled a total score of 416 and finished 23rd.

Maggie also attended the state meet for a second time. She, too, qualified this year as an individual after bowling on the state champion team last year. Banwarth bowled a total   score of 355 which earned her a 20th place finish.
