Freshman Thoughts
This year at Wahlert has been pretty amazing. When I first decided to come to Wahlert, I was scared no one would like me or they would think I was weird. The upperclassman made it easier; they helped us to get to know the school. Some of my friends told me what they thought of this year.
A transfer student from Wisconsin, Hannah McDermott, ’20, said, “High school isn’t as scary as people told me. It’s also very easy. Everyone in the school made it easier to find classes, and they were pretty nice.”
Charlie Vandermillen, ’20, and Anexia Lemke, ’20, both said the same thing, “Freshman year was fun and kind of a party. You make new friends and figure out who your real friends are. If you get involved, you will make new friends and get to know the ropes of the school better.”
Olivia Lenz, ‘20, also had her input on this year. “You get more freedom at Wahlert than at Mazzuchelli. Also, you get to do more.”
I never went to Mazz, so I really don’t know how things roll over there. So far, everyone I have talked to said Mazz was way more strict and people weren’t allowed as much freedom as Wahlert.
As for me, I’m glad I transferred cause Wahlert has been a pretty good experience even with the ups and downs.
This year has been an amazing year. Everyone was like, I’m scared this year is going to be boring or just like Mazz, but high school freshman year has been a lot of fun.
