Winter Formal Dates

School dances are a fun and memorable experience for most students who attend. But, they can also be nerve-racking, especially for the youngest people of Wahlert. Freshmen have never experienced a school dance until now, and the first dance is “girls-ask-guys”.

“Having the dance be a ‘guys-ask-girls’ would take lots of pressure off of all the girls,” says Olivia Pfeiler, ‘21. “It was my first time doing it, and I was nervous.”

But, some girls had no trouble asking their dates. “No, it wasn’t difficult to ask because I am really close friends with that person,” says Alix Oliver, ‘21.

The winter formal dance was originally scheduled for Feb. 23rd, but since there was a problem with threats at Senior High School, they decided to cancel school and the dance. The dance has been rescheduled for March 10th.

“It was a bit frustrating,” says Emilia Harris, ‘21, “because everyone had their reservations, their hair, nail and makeup appointments, and they just cancelled it the day of. It would have been nice if they would have given us some kind of notice beforehand. It definitely would have given us more time to regroup. Also, I wish they would have given us the new date when they cancelled it, so people didn’t have to stress about it.”
