Teachers appreciated by students and staff
Without teachers, schools would not be able to function because there’d be no education base. Therefore, it is always important to show appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication teachers put into the school. Although Teacher Appreciation Week has just passed, the teachers of Wahlert were shown lots of appreciation.
“I feel that often, there’s not a lot done for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week,” Mrs. Cathy Conlon explains. “I know that I appreciate all of my colleagues and how good it feels when someone takes the time to say thank you.”
Last week, Mrs. Conlon had her three freshman English classes took time to write and deliver letters for all of the teachers to show their appreciation. “I think that teachers are often forgotten and Teacher Appreciation Week needs to be more important than it is. Anyone could be in charge of this, so I mentioned writing the cards to my students and they were so receptive that it made me really want to do it,” said Conlon.
Mr. Kyle Leeson is almost finished with his first year teaching, and he explained how his first Teacher Appreciation Week went. “I didn’t know there even was a Teacher Appreciation Week,” Leeson says. “I was very happy with everything I was receiving, and I felt all the love from the students. I couldn’t have asked for a better week.”
“I think there was a great appreciation for teachers expressed this week,” Sister Kay Gaul thought. “It was really great how the teachers were showing appreciation for each other, as well as the students showing their appreciation for us.”
As a new student to Wahlert, Caine Dominguez, ‘20, appreciates the teachers. “I most definitely appreciate the teachers,” Dominguez said. “They have been looking out for me, and when I’m down, they’re always there to pick me back up. Thank you to all of my teachers for being so great and for always helping me in class. Many students don’t really show their appreciation, but the teachers work really hard and they deserved and hopefully got a good week.”
There is only one Teacher Appreciation Week a year, but you can thank your teachers for their hard work at anytime.
