Winter formal proposals: girls ask guys

Deviating from normal dance traditions, Wahlert’s Winter Formal provides  the girls the opportunity to ask the guys. From food to sports, or pets to posters, girls have gotten pretty clever with the ways in which they ask.

Sarah Timmerman, ‘18, for example, asked Mitchell Walz, ‘19, by using a sports slogan. In addition to a poster, she wrote, “WF?” on a basketball for Walz.

Grace Kann, ‘20, on the other hand, asked Sam Kluesner, ‘20, by bringing him pizza and donuts. Her sign read, “I know this is CHEESY, but please DONUT say no… WF?”

What could be better than that you might ask? Keeley Carney, ‘20, asked Isaac Ripley, ‘20, by using both sports and food! The creativity, however, doesn’t stop there.

Julia Crawford, ‘18, wanted to ask Noah Kelleher, ‘18, during their show choir practice since that is an activity they both enjoy. “It was fun coming up with ideas, but at the same time, it was also stressful,” said Crawford. With the director’s help, she managed to talk all of the other show choir guys into singing while she held up a poster asking Kelleher to the dance.

Even The Gleaner’s very own assistant editor Emma Earles, ‘18, asked Gleaner reporter Riley Collins, ‘18, on the day that she got her wisdom teeth out! “I went to Emma’s house before a basketball game, but I didn’t expect anything until I saw her run across the room with a sign,” said Collins.

Despite all of these extravagant proposals, winter formal will be a laid back night for everyone to have a little fun on the dance floor. Remember that the dance is Friday February 24th from 8:30 to 11:00 at night!
