AMC hosting the documentary “Embrace”
“Embrace was a real eye opener for many people who aren’t confident. It was interesting because it showed how with the main character never gave up, which can give some motivation to others,” said Ellie Kalb, ‘19.
Kalb was one of many people who attended AMC Theater’s Feb. 9 showing of the documentary Embrace. The producers of the movie hope to change society’s views on women and to encourage women to embrace the body they have. This powerful documentary shows what people think and feel about women’s body shapes and images.
In order for AMC to host this filming, they needed a certain number of people signed up to say they were going to see the show. The tickets went on sale Jan. 7 and were sold out by Jan. 12. With all the people wanting to see the show, AMC Theaters added more seats on Jan. 20th.
Studies show that 91 percent of women hate their bodies. This documentary illustrates the study of women and their opinions. It teaches new generations to love their bodies and who they are; it teaches women to embrace who they are.
“As girls get older, they obviously start to gain weight, and they become more and more worried about their body image. I think seeing this movie would motivate them to be confident in their body and just love it just the way it is. I recommend it to high school and college girls,” said Kalb.
