Eagles flying high into playoffs
With the postseason approaching in football, Wahlert has high standards for this year’s playoffs. The team is currently 5-2 going into the last week of the regular season. The postseason assignment has not been released yet, but will be released Friday, Oct. 14th. Wahlert should be favorites for their district based on how the season has gone so far this year.
This is the best regular season the Eagles have had in the last 10 years. “The season has gone pretty good so far, but I don’t think we’ve played to our full potential,” said Seamus Crahan, ’23.
With the team’s passion heating up again, the Eagles could be a threat for opposing teams this postseason. With each win, the team gains more confidence.
“As a whole, we are very excited for the postseason and are looking forward to competing everyday until our goal is reached,” Ryan Brosius, ‘23, said. What is that goal? The goal is to get to the Dome.
Bryce Rudiger, ‘23, expressed his shared faith in his team. “We’re all feeling pretty confident about the postseason. We all find the goal we’ve set very clear and achievable.”
The last time the Eagles made it to the UNI dome was 30-plus years ago. This is the Eagles’ best chance at winning the title since the 2020 season when the Eagles made state and lost to Xavier High School.
Some of the guys from the team now were on the 2020 team, so they have a good amount of experience of playing in the playoffs already. Crahan said, “The team is feeling good about the postseason, and I think we’re going to start peaking at the right time.”
