Girls’ swim team has a record year
The girls’ swimming team had a record year this year and surprised a lot of schools while doing so. One of the leaders on the team, Carlie Noel, ‘16, said she had a great season.
“This was the best season that the collective team has ever had. We were undefeated and city champs. We also had our highest placement at state.”
Making it to state was one of the team’s goals for the season. Noel said, “State is always really fun; even as an alternate, it was really fun to cheer everyone on to a high placement.”
For Noel, this is her final season of swimming at Wahlert. Her favorite memory of the season was, “Winning City because we haven’t done that in 10 years, so it was a big deal.”Another swimmer who played a key role in making a historic year for the swim team was Elly Kalb, ‘19.
“We were very successful, and we came together and worked together to achieve our goals for this season,” said Kalb.
“The year was a great experience. It was the best season for our coach, and we placed higher than expected with two top 6 finishes.”
To close, Elly recaps her favorite part of the year was,
“Team building, we went to Iowa City and did a scavenger hunt and served meals”
The team hopes to continue its success next year since many of this year’s swimmers will be returning.
