NBA Playoffs: 4 teams remain, 4 championship predictions

The NBA Playoffs just got interesting. Two conference semifinal games went into a game 7. The defending champion Milwaukee Bucks just got taken out by the Boston Celtics, and the Dallas Mavericks pulled off a stunning blow out upset versus the Phoenix Suns. The Miami Heat took care of business versus the Philadelphia 76ers, earning their spot in the Conference championship. And the Golden State Warriors took out Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies to advance. The matchups are now set. The Celtics versus the Heat, and the Mavericks versus the Warriors.

Quinn Walsh, ‘23, thinks the Warriors are going to win it all. “I think the Warriors will win the finals in 5 games,” said Walsh. “The gang’s back together, Klay Thompson is back, and I think they’ll end up winning it.” The Warriors know a thing or two about winning championships. They won it all in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Luke Smith, ‘23, thinks the Celtics are going to win it. “They have the most balanced team. They have great guards and shooters. Anyone 1-7 can have a great night.”  The Celtics are led by All-Star forward Jayson Tatum, who has been having a great series.

Colin Cronin, ‘23, thinks the Warriors will win it. “They have a ton of great shooters and the most experience out of any of the teams left. Stephen Curry has been playing amazing, and the return of Klay Thompson has helped a lot. Jordan Poole has emerged as a star and has been a vital part of the Warriors success this season.”

Poole is averaging 18.5 points a game. He’s been very reliable for the team this postseason.

There are four good teams that remain. If I had to pick, I would take the Miami Heat to win the finals. I think they are determined to win it after losing in the championship a few years back. Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro are a great duo at guard, and Bam Adebayo is a solid big man that can crash the boards. It should be an interesting end to an already great NBA season!
