Summer’s coming: What’s on your list?

Many people rave about Netflix and all the shows on it. Shows can span from emotional love stories to Sci-fi Mysteries. Quite a few people have their own accounts or use their parents’, but some use friends’ accounts, since not all parents want to pay for Netflix monthly. There are different packages on Netflix; the basic streaming is $8, standard streaming is $10, and premium is $12.

Matthew Schmitz, ‘20, admits, “I do not even have my own Netflix account; instead I use my sister, Hannah’s, boyfriend’s account.”

Since there are so many different genres of shows to watch, Netflix attracts a variety of viewers.

Maria Molo, ‘18, says, “My favorite shows are The Office and The Vampire Diaries. I really like how they offer funny shows like The Office, but yet they have dramatic shows like The Vampire Diaries.

Sophomore Sam Jochum’s favorite show is Breaking Bad. He said, “I enjoy watching this show because it is really entertaining.”

Some students at Wahlert spend after school hours watching Netflix all night, while others might only watch it once a week. Finding the time for Netflix is a bigger priority for some people than it is others.

Libby Wedewer, ‘20, said, “I watch it almost every night. I have watched at least 15 shows on Netflix because I can relate to them.”

Emma Sadler, ‘19, is the exact opposite, “I never really watch Netflix because it takes up too much of my time.”

Not all popular movies are offered on Netflix, which sometimes disappoints Netflix users who are looking for a good movie to watch.

Abby McDonald, ‘18, “The movies are not good at all; there are really no options.”

Netflix shows have also displeased watchers because of their lack of variety. Some people are frustrated and bored with the selection of shows Netflix has to offer.

Ashlyn Coffman, ‘19, said, “I have already seen everything that I want to see and new shows and movies need to be added.”

Students can always rewatch shows and movies on Netflix and download certain ones to watch when they do not have wi-fi.

Jacob Schockemoehl, ‘20, appreciates the feature of the app where you can download shows. Schockemoehl notes, however, that, “Netflix doesn’t have have the best movie selections to download, and it needs to expand the options on what can and can’t be downloaded.”

In the end, many people have Netflix accounts and think it is worth it to have one, while some do not. The debate continues to go on whether it’s a decent app or not, what do you think?
