Soccer Heads’ “April Madness” coming soon to Wahlert

Jack Kalb and Austin Savary, both ’17, play each other in a game of Soccer Heads.

Just as every mainstream sports’ season concludes in a tournament to crown a champion, a similar event is coming to Wahlert this week.  More than 30 students have already signed up to take part in the first annual “April Madness” Soccer Heads tournament.

Soccer Heads is a popular computer game in which two participants go head-to-head in a soccer match.  This event will start with a round robin style pool play during seminar this week.  The first round of the tournament will take place in Mrs. Leonard’s seminar.  After this opening round, students will be seeded into a single elimination bracket. The final four teams will hopefully compete in front of the entire school at the next pep rally.

“It will take a lot of luck to win this tournament,” said Sam Herrig, ‘17.  “It is going to come down to the each player’s grit, toughness and determination.”

Those who are interested can follow recent news and updates regarding the tournament @WCHSsoccerheads on Twitter and Instagram.  This event is an open invite for anyone interested; just check your email and fill out the survey to join.

This tournament will surely bring out the competitive side of each player, but it will also provide a great time filled with action-packed fun for everyone involved.
